History of the Race

In 1978, a small fledgling running store in Phoenix, Arizona was approached regarding the possibility of staging an event that the hottest distance runner in America might participate in. That runner was Bill Rodgers. Now, this American running legend is returning to compete in the 25th anniversary event. Bill participated in 13 of the first 24 events, including the 20th edition. Since the first race in 1979, over 300 athletes have run this pancake-flat 10K course in under 30 minutes. Thom Hunt set the American record in 1983. If you missed the earlier chances to run with Bill Rodgers, don’t miss this one!
