Fitness and Fun for Everyone!

Mayo Clinic Scottsdale is pleased to announce the continuation of the 2001 Mayo Clinic Corporate Challenge, set for March 3, 2001. As we continue to grow along with the Valley of the Sun, we are proud to sponsor an event that salutes fitness for everyone including Phoenix area businesses.

Meet your friends, customers or competitors on a playing field that is fun for everyone. With a great selection of events, there is sure to be an activity for everyone. Music, food and raffle prizes will highlight this Spring outing. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Arizona Transplant House Foundation.


Meet Mark Allen

Meet Mark Allen, six time Ironman World Champion, at the event, or plan on attending his presentation of "The Art of Ironman Success" which will be held Friday night, March 2, at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. The presentation will start at 7 p.m. and last until 8:30p.m. To make a reservation, call (480) 301-3505.

Schedule of Events

1 Mile Fun Run/Walk 8:30a.m. Here is the event where everyone can participate. This flat and fast one mile course can be run in sub-5 minute pace or comfortably walked in 20 minutes. It's everybody's chance to be part of their "team".
The top male and female finishers will receive special awards.

5K Fitness Walk 8:35a.m. If walking is your thing, then make sure we see you at the 5K Fitness Walk. You can "hot foot" this 3.1 mile course in 39 minutes or take a leisurely 60 minutes and enjoy the sights. Either way, there will be plenty of fun and plenty of action. Strollers and baby joggers are welcome. Specially designed medals will be presented to the top 25 male and female finishers. A digital clock will display times at the finish line.

8K Run (Team & Individual) 9:00 a.m. The competitive 8K run is the heart & soul of the Mayo Clinic Corporate Challenge. Open to corporate, school, open teams and individuals, the lightning fast course will have split times each mile, plus two aid stations on the course. Individual overall champions and top three age group awards will be presented in the following divisions: 11 & under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

Aerobic Jam 9:10a.m. Join us for the Aerobic Jam presented by Fitness West. A 50 minute aerobic workout designed to liven things up. A special area is reserved to stage this exciting workout. (NO FEE!)

Inline Skate 10:00a.m. Presented by Ski Pro/ Ski Chalet
If you want to "Roll with it", the 8K Inline Skate is for you. All entrants will be timed with (3) awards being presented in each of the following age groups: 12 & under, 13-17, 18-25, 26-29, 30-39, 40-49 & 50-59, 60+ . Overall male and female winners will also receive special awards.

Helmets are mandatory, and additional protection is strongly recommended.
Staged in conjunction with the Arizona Inline Skating Association.

Team Rules & Guidelines
Included within the team competition are corporate, school and open categories. Using a unique scoring system that compares the times of all runners in the same age and sex group, a percentile ranking is determined for each finisher. A team's five best percentile finishes are then added, with the lowest scores winning.


A Special Award will be given to the company entering the largest total number of participants.
